There has not been a decent cruising guide for the Solomon Islands since Alan Lucas wrote his way back in the 70’s. Sail the Solomons is packed with information for the area. The introductory section deals with essential background information including ‘must know’ facts regarding Solomon Islands culture. The rest of the book provides excellent cruising information in the form of narrative, color and black and white photographs, many of which are aerial photos and chartlets. Most of these are reproductions of cancelled British Admiralty charts of the area. The fact that they come from cancelled charts is unimportant, as the geographical features remain the same regardless of how long ago the chart was first published. Edited by Dayle Smith. Spiral bound, 320 pages.
